Mix #3 | Paul Brown

"Hello music fans,

Please enjoy this mix. I mostly tried to stay within a window of the last two years and also cover some of the various genres and interests that have floated my way while still trying not to actually spend money on new music.

I hope you like the collection I gathered and I look forward to hearing your mixes.

  1. Some good stuff here, Paul. Thanks!

I only have a few Mogwai songs, but I obviously need to get more.

Great revivial of soul-funk with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings!

Awesome Roots song. I've been getting a little more into hip hop and I'm definitely keeping "Here I Come" in my collection.

"The Sleepless" probably isn't completely representative of Red Snapper's general style, but I really like it. They were signed by Matador Records in '99 and I like almost everything that Matador puts out.

"You Stood Me Up" by Benji Hughes is a nice little song. Fun lyrics and catchy.

    More later...

  2. Really like My Toys Like Me and Yppah (which I think should mean sad). Both very groovy.

Lykke Li, you had me at Swedish female-vocalist powdered-sugar pop.

Mmm... francophone indie pop. Thank you, Malajube.

Also, really enjoying the Does It Offend You, Yeah? Okay, Paul, your CD makes me want to make my CD better.

Any song title with "Nosferatu" in it will capture my attention. I especially like the lyrics of Nosferatu Man. "She ran without glances / And railed like a red coal train".

Not sure I like the BARR, though. Funny lyrics, but not something I'd want to listen to regularly.
